Alina Behan

International architect Alina Behan has always been shaping the world we live in, so it wasn’t a great leap to building worlds for your imagination. Formerly a licensed security agent with a habit of wearing pink, Alina should be writing blood-smeared fluff - but despite her best efforts, the page spits up black comedy every time.

She has completed multiple courses at the Writers’ Studio, Australian Writers’ Center, is a member of the ASA and Writing WA. Alina loves to help develop other authors and is a founding member of inspirational writing group The Publication Project. Instigated by renown Australian editor Cathie Tasker, they support and workshop with other talented writers across Australia.

Alina lives on the edge of a forest with her nature averse family and a greyhound who thinks she is Sleeping Beauty.

Facty McFact Facts

Alina lived in rural Western Australia before moving to Perth at the age of six. After studying Architecture she left for the wilds of London to design and build some really cool stuff.

She came back with her children to give them the benefit of an outdoors lifestyle. Despite living on five acres near a national forest, her children rarely leave the house. Most days a trip to school is their biggest adventure.

She does have a greyhound and yes they DO sleep for eighteen hours a day. Give one a home and try it. It’s true.

Being a Security Agent gave her super-powers. Yep she’s a ninja god. Not really, but she loves you for believing that, even if it was just for a second.

Boneman

Would you leave the fate of the world in the hands of a dead EIGHteen-year-old?

When eighteen year old Marcus Beenderman dies he’s unexpectedly reincarnated as Death, judging balanced souls, leading a team of apocalyptic horsemen. Seriously, with his life experience?

He’s not in love with the blood, the judging, War’s bullying or Famine in Lycra. He wanted a quiet afterlife, not a job. When God show’s Marcus his only alternative is eternal torture in Hell, Marcus commits but quickly discovers that to get everything he wants he must risk the entire world.

Reviews

Youth. Life. Death. This book has it all – told with irreverent humour and a wry take on The Apocalypse the authors of the (debatedly) Greatest Book of All Time would envy. Read it.
— Colleen Smith

Unapologetic, honest, kind of grubby, bloody, and swarming with flies, just like death. Boneman doesn’t shy away from the harsh truths of this world but will still give you a good laugh.
— Aidan Hordov

I loved this book. Boneman got me hooked from the first page and pulled me through a wonderful story full of twists and turns. Sometimes sad but then straight back into the hilarious matter of fact way of running the afterlife. You can’t even get away from performance targets when you’re dead.
— Wendy Griffiths

Highly original and engaging novel. The characters are vividly portrayed, with the hero Marcus struggling to meet his targets in a fight to save his soul. The story would make a good film, with plenty of action and drama.
— Dee Gainher

Being a Security Agent gave her super-powers. Yep she’s a ninja god. Not really it just means the police let her supervise other licenced guys. You watch too much television.
